Group Class Descriptions

Led Ashtanga Primary
:
Practitioners are lead through Sun Salutations to warm the body and develop stamina; standing postures to develop balance; sitting postures to open hips, strengthen forward folding and develop spinal flexibility; back bending; plus a closing sequence with inversions to improve circulation and cool the body.

Although helpful for students to have significant movement and yoga experience, a typical class has a wide range of experience, from beginners to persons with many years of practice. Modifications are given to make the practice accessible to all body types and fitness levels.

This ancient discipline utilizes the body to transform the mind. Ashtanga Yoga literally means “eight-limbed”, the eight limbs of Ashtanga Yoga were originally described by the sage Patanjali in the ancient text, the Yoga Sutras (believed to be compiled in 2500 B.C.)

Note: Once the sequence has begun practitioners are lead non-stop through about 75 minutes of asana practice and the flow of the class is not interrupted. You must also be prepared to sweat. The only real requirements to participation is desire, a sense of adventure and the willingness to connect with the transforming power of your breath.

Yin:
Cincinnati's fastest growing class!
Yin yoga focuses on passively holding poses for longer periods of time to open up connective tissues deep within joints and help you find all of the inward limbs of yoga.

Yin is a beautifully accessible form of Asana (physical yoga) for all yogis - from never-evers to advanced practitioners, everyone can benefit from this graceful, gratitude-filled, meditative practice.

Ashtanga/Vinyasa:
Combining the traditional sequential practice of Ashtanga Yoga’s Primary Series and the fluidity of Vinyasa Flow, this dynamic class encourages practitioners to allow their breath/Prana to guide them through the series while the heat created through the practice encourages release of toxins and overall purification.

Vin-To-Yin
The perfect blend of flowing Vinyasa to build Agni (internal fire), detoxify, and strengthen, leading to a cooling lunar flow to activate and nourish the connective tissues of the body, calm the mind and leave you feeling balanced.

Vinyasa+Vino Friday Happy Hour:
Finish your week off with a different kind of Friday Happy Hour. An hour-long Vinyasa Flow class to shake off the work week, fire you up for the weekend and detoxify your body, followed immediately by a re-toxifying glass of fermented grape juice and chance to mingle with the other members of our Yoga Bar Sangha (community of yogis). Vinyasa+Vino Fridays often include live music, tarot card readings and consciously crafted foods.
