2011-2012 Yoga University/200-Hour Teacher Training -UNDERWAY
Summer Session begins May 12, 2012. Register HERE. Yoga
Bar founder Rachel Roberts began her training in Bali with Gaia Yoga.
Gaia Yoga offers one of the most complete and comprehensive Teacher
Training (TT) programs in Europe and now The Yoga Bar/Bija Yoga School is bringing it to
the US. This TT program is designed for serious yoga students who
want to deepen their practice, to learn more about the yogic way of
life and to get into the Heart of Yoga. The course is also for aspiring
teachers to learn the limbs of yoga and eventually share their
knowledge with others.
The understanding and practice of asana is
the milestone of the program, and is complemented with the study of
yoga philosophy, meditation, pranayama and anatomy.
Our TT program consists of more than 200 hours of
training, of which at least 180 hours are in contact with teachers and
20+ hours are self-study and self-practice. The program is designed to
fit into your busy life. Courses are held over 13 weekends (most
Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm to 6pm, some Saturdays from 9am-6pm and
one intensive three-day weekend tentatively scheduled for November
4-6). Students will have at least one weekend off per month, and time
off during the holiday season.
High quality standards require that the
number of participants is limited in order to follow each student
individually.
Terms of attendance of 200-hours
TT program
The Yoga University program can be
attended by practitioners with least 1
year of committed yoga practice. All students must complete the application form to be considered for
course admission. Students who are not regularly practicing at The Yoga Bar, must submit a letter of recommendation from their yoga teacher.
Final exams
In
order to qualify
for registration with Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour RYT level, 100% attendance, (or approved equivalent with make-up hours/coursework), full course payment and satisfactory completion of all written and practical exams is required. Final exams consist of a written portion (theory) and a
practical exam (a complete yoga class prepared and led by the aspirant
teacher). In case the criteria to pass the exam hasn’t been
satisfied, testing can be repeated at the end of the next edition of Yoga University, without any additional
cost.
Certification
To obtain the Yoga Alliance Teaching Certificate, it is necessary to pass both final
exams (theoretical and practical). Students' dedication during the
training, commitment to yoga practice, as well as homework and
requested reading will be considered for the final evaluation and will determine if the course has been completed satisfactorily.
Yoga Alliance Certification is recognized worldwide and licenses new teachers to
teach yoga styles learned during the training. By virtue of this
international documentation, new teachers are authorized to teach yoga
classes in the US and all around the world, and they have the
possibility to register at
Yoga Alliance as multi-style Yoga
Teacher with 200-hours education (RYT 200).
